Barefoot Running Sandals and Shoes
In September 2009, I began running barefoot, mostly as a training aid for my sprinting.
Amazingly, some calf and leg pains I'd had for years went away when I took off my shoes. Plus I started developing an arch in my previously flat feet.
I love being barefoot, but I was curious about these "huaraches" -- barefoot running sandals worn by the Tarahumara, described in Chris McDougall's book, Born to Run.
I made a pair for myself, for Lena, and for a dozen or so of the local Bolder Barefoot Running Club. They're great, whether you're running or just walking around. The closest thing to barefoot without being barefoot.
Inspired by Michael Sandler and Jessie Lee (coaches of the BBRC), I started a business selling huaraches barefoot running sandals kits that has now evolved to sell shoes and sandals that allow your feet do to what's natural -- bend, flex, move, and FEEL the world..
